Turtles, Snakes and Amphibians

Turtles

Turtles ALWAYS need to be rescued if they are injured.

A mortally wounded turtle can live for days after being injured.

It is a great kindness to get them off the hot, noisy street.

An injured turtle released into the wild without medical treatment will struggle to survive, facing risk of infection, dehydration, and predator attacks.

Snakes

First: don't panic! Make sure the snake really need rescuing,

or is it simply navigating across your yard? If you find one

that is injured, please be kind and get it some help. Snakes

are an important part of our ecosystem. Without them, our

backyards would be overrun by mice and other vermin that can make

us sick. Until help arrives, leave it be. NEVER poke it

with a stick. We would bite you too if you did it to us :)
